Z.C. Bar- She's Vegan.
“Do You Have Vegan Fudge?”
This question haunts me.
For so long, our answer has been some version of, “No, but we have dark chocolate Oreos. Or dark chocolate bark?”
Perfectly delicious options. But when someone walks into a fudge shop asking for fudge, offering them bark feels a little like offering someone a salad when they asked for pizza.
Now, we finally have something I’m excited to put in their hands: the Z.C. Bar.
We set out to make a delicious chocolate bar. That was the whole assignment. A chocolate shell filled with a secret mixture of crispy cornflakes, peanut butter, and a few other things we’re keeping to ourselves, finished with Maldon sea salt.
Crunchy. Salty. Chocolatey. The kind of thing you take one bite of and immediately decide you’re not sharing.
Then, after we finished, we realized something.
Holy shit. This is also vegan.
We hadn’t developed it as a substitute for anything. We’d just made something we loved, and it happened to be something our vegan customers could enjoy, too.
That discovery sent us down a rabbit hole. Because if we could get this excited about a vegan chocolate bar, what else could we make?
I’m not trying to bury the lede here: we think we’re going to be making vegan fudge soon, too.
There’s still some experimenting to do before we can put it in the case. But for the first time, that question has me thinking about possibilities instead of rehearsing an apology.
In the meantime, try the Z.C. Bar.
We made it delicious on purpose. The vegan part was a happy discovery.
