Z. Cioccolato- The Best Fudge on the West Coast

I say this all the time to people. I also tell people, but I'll throw down with any shop. What makes us the best? Less importantly, who said we're the best?

I think we're the best because we have great cooks working in the kitchen. Our head chef is a certified pastry chef. I have been a working cook for 27 years. We also use great ingredients. Our Chocolate, from Republica del Cacao of Ecuador, is phenomenal. We use great butter from right here in California. Also, I have to give credit to our water. Have you ever tasted the water here? It's fresh from the Sierra Nevada mountains at Hetch Hetchy and if water can be delicious, this is that.

We take inspiration from a variety of places. Favorite desserts are always a good touchstone, resulting in unique flavors like Strawberry Basil Cookie or Boston Cream Pie. We also like to get a little weird sometimes and do things like Matcha Green Tea, Ube Coconut or use seasonal produce to create things like Blackberry Dark Chocolate. We also have a diverse staff of characters and everyone brings their own ideas to the table. 

In the months ahead, we are planning to get weird and make some really out there fudges under our "What the Fudge?" label.  Not everything has been a hit. We will never make Pumpkin Toffee Again. That was horrid.

Finally, what makes us the best on the West Coast? Well, Yelp thinks so. But also, there was a poll conducted years ago on MSNBC and we've been riding that high for a while. They just did the poll again and we actually moved up (we're number 19, baby!) but we were the highest ranked Fudge shop outside of Michigan and New Jersey so guess what! BEST OF THE WEST!
